MakeupLoveer Contest entry

When thinking of summer I think of..the sky. I took this picture over my house..the sky was so blue and the reason the ball of clouds look so bright is because the sun is behind them :) Waking up in the morning and seeing a few white clouds alongside the piercing blue sky and the sun peeping through makes me happy :)
This is what I did to try an represent it. I'm so sorry the pictures looks rubbish I've tried so many times to try and get them looking good but I don't think it's going to happen and if I attempt again the date will run out :( Also, I'm looking awful!
I used Blues for the sky, White for clouds and Yellow for sun :)

This is what I used:
Vital Radiance Primer
Sleek CHAOS557 Palette
Sleek ORIGINAL 594 palette
Collection 2000 Dazzle Me! in Bedazzle 8
2True twist 'n' Line Eye Definer in White
Everything else was kept really neutral and summery like :)

What I did:
Firstly primed the eye to the brow bone. I then applied the light blue shade from CHAOS across half of the lid focusing the colour on the outer corner and blending inward. Then I applied the light blue from ORIGINAL, they look quite similar but it has the most gorgeous sheen to it. Again blending inwards with the main focus on the outer corner. Then applied a little of the dark blue into the crease to add some definition and shape. I applied the white eyeliner into the inner corner and smudged it upwards into the light shades of blue. Then, using the white from the CHAOS palette I blended out any harsh edges and used it to the brow bone. Lastly, I used Collection 2000 Dazzle Me! in Bedazzle 8 under the eye. I wanted this to be used for the sun and I wasn't sure if it worked but it really made the blues stand out :) I wouldn't usually go for blues but I was really pleased with how it turned out and how it looked against my skin.

Thanks for a great contest Louise, good luck everyone :)

Wet ‘n’ Wild..

..in TESCO!? I spotted these last week, there wasn't a massive selection but all price labels were there making it look like there will be a much bigger selection is soon. Has anyone else seen Wet ‘n’ Wild in their TESCO? Is there anything worth trying?

Mini haul :)

Last weekend me and a colleague noticed that our work were stocking Burt's Bees and we honestly couldn't believe it! On Saturday we got into work and it had been reduced by 30% already! I didn't go too mad as on Thursday I may be able to get another 40% off but I got these two :)

Sorry the pictures not great but I got the Lemon-Lime Lip Gloss and Beeswax Lip Balm. I also got a Natural Collection lipstick in Apple Blossom which has snuck into the picture :) I haven't looked at this stand since I was about 10 but it was recommended to me and at £1.95 you can't go wrong and I've fallen in love with it :)!
I got the whole bunch for £6.42 so all in all another guilt free purchase :D

A review; Rimmel Sexy Curve mascara

I have mentioned my initial thoughts of this mascara a few days ago but tonight as I wasn't doing anything decided to take off all my makeup and give this mascara a fair chance. I curled both eyes and then applied the mascara to my left lashes.
Below I applied one coat of Rimmel and left the right eye bare. [How wonky does my face look!?]

,

Next, I applied a different mascara onto the left eye. This mascara, in my opinion appears to be exactly the same minus the brush.

See what I'm saying? Well the mascara on the right is Natural Collection LashDefinition and cost the ridiculous price of £1.99. If anything, the Natural Collection is better as it applies a lot quicker and is less 'runny'.

Lastly, I applied the Rimmel on top of the Natural Collection and right and left the left eye with one coat of the Rimmel. Here's what it looks like:

There wasn't a massive difference with an extra coat therefore being able to build this mascara up to get a dramatic look that I go for could be time consuming and very, very frustrating.

All in all I wouldn't say I hated this mascara but I couldn't say that I particularly like it either. Being able to apply more mascara is an essential for me as I'm not one for the natural eye look but this mascara only seems to work well with one coat. As I write this, every time I blink my eyelashes seem to stick together. [It's getting rather annoying now!] As I said, this mascara seems to be an exact copy of the Natural Collection which retails at a fraction of the price. The brush is meant to be a unique selling point of the mascara, and yes it is different but personally I didn't find it made much of a difference. Plus, if you look at Fairy Drops mascara you will realise that this is just a copy. There is volume in my lashes but honestly I think that's due to my curler. The packaging is cute; being purple and metallic makes it looks nice but not enough for me to purchase this mascara again. I won't throw this out as I did get it for free and I could wear it by the pool on holiday as it is so natural. If you're going for a really natural look this mascara may work for you, but honestly I don't think the price is worth it.

Rimmel sexy curves..a review [& story!]

RIMMEL SEXY CURVES MASCARA
Full volume & Curve Mascara.
RRP £7.99

''70% more curl full of voluptuous volume, your smouldering eyes will be the envy of every girl in town.''

On Friday morning it took me ages to put my mascara on because there was hardly anything on my brush..now I have a massive basket full of mascara but I never seem to finish one so I decided I would not buy one until I finished the others. However, due to the amount of time it took me to put it on on Friday morning I decided I was in desperate need of a new one. So, on Friday evening I went out to get one but the till had about 3 people in with trolleys full of stuff and I really couldn't be bothered to wait 20 minutes. Earlier on in the day my friend said she'd tried a mascara but it hadn't worked for her so I went and collected that instead of waiting. She had only used it twice but realised that she was allergic when her eyes streamed after putting it on so she gave it me :)! However, I was a little worried because I have the most sensitive eyes ever..I used it on Saturday morning and my first impression wasn't good. I was disappointed that it took me so long to put a layer on due to the fact it was so runny. My eyes didn't react to it though so that was good. I have only used it once and I will be giving it another go to enable me to review it properly but this is my first impression on this mascara.

Quick Tip.. [1]

When taking your eye makeup off at night before you use a remover wet the lashes and leave them for a minute or so. Then when you swipe the cotton wool over your eyes everything comes off so much easier and quicker. It saves time and product and if you're like me and wear a lot it really helps :)!

Attention don't use too much water as this can lead the makeup to run into the eyes = sore :(

New brush holder

I've been looking for a brush holder for a while now. Everything has either been too big, too small, the wrong colour or wrong shape. But whilst I was in Tesco the other day I came across one of their promotional stands. It had bits and bobs for organising all things in the office area. I saw this pencil cup and thought it would be perfect :) It was half price [75p] but I think this is because they're going to be discontinued. They only had 2 colours, Pink and Silver. I chose the pink because even though my room is lilac it was much more me than the silver. I don't have all my brushes in the pictures but you get the idea of how they fit in. I put a thin layer of Blu Tac at the bottom because I'm so clumsy I chuck the brushes in and I don't want them to be damaged from the metal :)
Here are some pictures..they're not amazing [sorry] but hopefully they give you an idea :)

  2. I have a whole £9 at the moment to go out on Saturday :|
  3. I still haven't done my history essay :(
  4. Cravings, yet again.

From now on I vow to not shop for at least a week!

Last week I vowed to myself that I would stop shopping. I think you know what is coming next when I tell you that I didn't keep to it..however, the things I got were things that I needed and will be using frequently!
Anyway, over the past 4 days this is what I got.

I did take photos of the items individually but they came out looking shocking so I've left them out.
On Wednesday afternoon boyfriend took me to Boots and I bought Sudocrem and Natural Collection Mango & Papaya Body Scrub. I have always had a tub of Sudocrem in the house and as I had a massive break out I thought I would use it as a face cream until it cleared up. You can't go wrong with Sudocrem because it lasts forever and you can use it for so many different things. I felt bad constantly using my mums so went and got my own. It cost around £3 which isn't bad and it's been a saviour to me! I was also in need of some more body scrub so picked up the Natural Collection one. It smells amazing and I think the colour is cute. I used it the next day and I don't know if you can see by the picture but I've used it once and you need to use so much to see a little difference! Oh well it was only £1.99 what can I expect?

I also got some Batiste Tropical dry shampoo. I've wanted some dry shampoo for around a year now but never ever been able to find it. If you are wanting some and have the same problem I got mine from Tesco it was down the shampoo section. One wall had all the shampoos and conditioners and opposite was the hair products and various other hair related things. To be honest it wasn't easy to find and I was just about to give up and I found it. I originally picked up the tropical one but then swapped it for the original. This was because I didn't want the smell to be too overpowering. I stood there for a minute wondering and then decided to smell them both. The tropical one does smell very naturally tropical. I know that sounds strange but a lot of smells seem forced nowadays and the original smelt of deodorant so I didn't want that in my hair! I'm going to try it out and do a review. It was £1.98.

Lastly I got Lancome's Hypnose mascara. With my student discount in Superdrug it was £11.01 which is amazing as it's £19.50 from Lancome. This mascara = Massive Love sadly though this one is not for me. It's one of the gifts for my mum for mothers day so I can feel quite guilt free with this purchase, don't you think :)?

Question And Haulage!

Firstly, my mare
MSN wouldn't work on my laptop so I decided to uninstall it so i could then reinstall it and then maybe it would work..I was wrong. I now don't have any MSN at all. When I now try to download it again it's saying I already have it grr! I have tried to recover it from the recycle bin but no it still won't work :( if anyone can help please leave a comment :)! Thank you x

Now that the rants over, onto my haul. On Sunday I was meant to be going out with a friend but she never turned up. So my mum decided to drop me off into town so that I could still do a bit of shopping. It wasn't the most successful trip and I only ended up with a few bits but oh well I suppose it saved me money in the long run :) so here's what I got..

I went to Superdrug and as all GOSH is on 3 for 2 I decided to invest in some more of my foundation primers. I love love love this product. I was debating whether to get three more due to the price. Having said this, they are the only primer on the market that seems to get good reviews and it simply has been a god send. I love how this product leaves my skin feeling lovely and smooth ready for my foundation to go on but I think the main reason I love it so much is that it covers up my pores and as they are looking shocking at the moment it makes me happy to not see them poking through under my foundation :) I think I may do a review on it soon so I won't say anymore. Anyway, these are £12.72 each [the random pricing is probably due to the VAT reduction] and as I got student discount [10%] I got all three for £22.89. Here's a picture of them:

I went into town for a number of other things and one was a new spring time coat. I had one in mind but when I went into New Look the range of coats that they had was not looking promising. However, I did find one but it was a size 8 and in cherry red. I was so disappointed. Then to top it all off it started hailing! However, I did stop off at another New Look on the way home at a little mall near my house and got these two items :)

A black long sleeved top and hot pink dress.
I have to admit I've never been a massive New Look fan but recently I haven't liked what most shops are offering in their collections and have found myself making a few purchases in New Look. You can find simple, staple and statement pieces in my opinion. Admittedly the picture doesn't do it justice so if you're interested when I wear it out I will post a picture. For reference the top was £5 and the dress £14, I did use my student discount again so the two came to £17.10.

Sorry about the ramble that this post has become if you've made it to the end then thank you :D x

Nice to meet you...

Hello :)
I'm Vicki, 17 and a student.
About a year ago I came across my first ever video on YouTube about makeup and I have been obsessed ever since! Being from a very remote part of the country I was so relieved to find out that so many other people shared a love for the same things as I did. Back then there was hardly any English girls but recently it's grown a lot so this is a way for me to be able to tell you my experiences and thoughts as well as being able to follow other blogs. I don't know how it will turn out but I'm going to give it a go :) your feedback will be muchly appreciated so feel free to leave a comment.
Lots of love xoxo
